Title IX protects students and school employees by prohibiting unwelcome sexual conduct and sexual violence, as well as sex-based harassment involving aggression, intimidation, or hostility based on sex or sex stereotyping, even when not sexual in nature.
Title IX prohibits schools from retaliating against anyone who asserts their Title IX rights or raises concerns about violations, meaning schools cannot penalize individuals for filing reports or complaints under Title IX.
Title IX requires schools to treat men and women equally in athletic participation opportunities, scholarships, and all aspects of team treatment, including facilities, equipment, travel, and scheduling.
